TEAM NEWS: Memphis dropped for Manchester United's clash with West Brom
The Dutchman has been left out following five games back in United's starting ranks, with Jesse Lingard favoured on the flank

Memphis Depay has been dropped for Manchester United’s Premier League clash with West Brom on Sunday.

The £25 million summer signing from PSV has struggled during his first season at Old Trafford, but a string of improved displays had seen him make five successive starts for Louis van Gaal's men.

However, Depay is one of four United players to be dropped to the bench for the trip to The Hawthorns, with Jesse Lingard replacing him in the starting XI.

Chris Smalling returns after a shoulder injury to start in the centre of defence, while right-back Matteo Darmian also makes his first start following a similar blow. Michael Carrick steps back into the side after being rested for the 1-0 midweek win over Watford.

As well as Depay, Guillermo Varela, Morgan Schneiderlin and youngster Tim Fosu-Mensah are relegated to the substitutes bench, where Marouane Fellaini is primed to return following a muscle problem.
