The Ivorian left west London in the summer of 2012 after eight trophy-laden years in English football.

Drogba opted to move on as a free agent and try his luck in China with Shanghai Shenhua, before returning to Europe with Turkish outfit Galatasaray in January.

He is now 35 years of age, but he remains a firm favourite of returning Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese tactician was hoping to re-sign a man he first snapped up for 24million in 2004, but his efforts to arrange a reunion have come to nothing.

Caliskan said: "Mourinho called Drogba and told him he would like to see him back.

"However, Drogba is very happy at Galatasaray and he informed his former coach that he has no intention of leaving."
