Benfica loan Lisandro Lopez to Getafe for season
La Liga side Getafe made a late move on transfer deadline day to secure Benfica defender Lisandro Lopez on a season-long loan.

The Portuguese giants bought Lopez from Arsenal de Sarandi earlier in the summer but have opted to send the player away from the Estadio da Luz to gain first-team experience.

Before making the switch to Benfica, the 24-year-old made 122 appearances for Sarandi over three years, scoring 17 goals in the process.

Getafe's official club website released a statement earlier in the day stating: "We have reached an agreement with Benfica for the transfer of Lisandro Lopez for 2013-14."

The Argentina international was picked up by Sarandi from Chacarita Juniors in 2010 before becoming an established centre-back in the Argentinian top flight.

Getafe coach Luis Garcia Plaza will hope the arrival of Lopez will be the catalyst to their La Liga season, which has made a slow start after a solitary point from their opening three fixtures.

Lopez was the subject of much European interest earlier in the summer but it was ultimately Benfica who won the race for the signature of the highly-rated defender.
